Browse a folder without touching the mouse
The keys you need for going through a folder fast, and the two that people miss.
Lumeira is built for going through a lot of images quickly. That means the keyboard, and it means the app stays out of the way. Here is the set of keys worth knowing on day one.
Moving
- → and ←: next and previous image.
- ⌘↑ and ⌘↓: first and last image in the folder.
- ] and [: next and previous folder beside this one. The first time you use these, macOS asks you to allow access to the parent folder. That is a one-time question. See Folders and permissions.
Looking
- 0: actual size. Press again to fit the window.
- ⌘= and ⌘-: zoom in and out. Scroll wheel zooms around the cursor.
- ⇧F: fill the window, cropping the edges.
- M: magnifier loupe that follows the cursor.
- G: RGB histogram in the corner.
- I: info panel with camera, exposure, and dimensions.
- T: pin the thumbnail strip open. Without pinning, it slides in when you move the mouse to the edge.
Fixing orientation
- R and L: rotate clockwise and counter-clockwise.
- H and V: flip.
These do not write to the file. They apply to what you see and go away when you move on.
Deciding
- ⌘⌫: move the file to the Trash. You get asked once.
- ⇧⌘R: show it in Finder.
- ⇧⌘S: share.
The two people miss
K opens compare mode, which is the reason to use Lumeira instead of Preview. There is a whole guide for it.
? shows all of this inside the app, with your own keys if you have changed any in Settings.
